Come join SHRP!

We have lots of available characters, and a great group of nice people RPing with us! :)

If you’re interested in joining, please take a look at our RULES— for the most part they’re very simple. SHRP is first and foremost about having FUN and being respectful to your fellow RPers.

The character list is here! If you want a character and it’s not on the list, then please let the masterlist know, and we can get that character on there for you. :)

NOTE: Downpour characters have been added to this list! All Downpour characters that have already been taken have been asked to keep spoilers out of their RPing as much as is possible, but some spoiling might happen. We’re trying our best to keep the RP as spoiler-free as possible. We have tags— #silent hill: downpour RP, #spoilers— that members may use tumblr saviour for.

I hope you’re interested, and if you have any questions, feel free to ask, or to ask me (Mod 1) over at my personal. :)

James’ Ghost

Jason Kodani (silentevil999@gmail.com) submitted:

This is a depiction of James Sunderland from SILENT HILL 2, seen here as a ghost.

This was originally the graphic design on a T-Shirt that I believe was either sold or given away at a Konami Gamers’ Day event at the Metreon in San Francisco in 2004 to promote SILENT HILL 4: THE ROOM. The ghosts in the game appear like this, although James does not appear in it himself.

I was lucky enough to acquire one of these (insanely)rare tees, and basically just reproduced the design on paper with a black Sharpie pen.

So yeah, I drew it. Copied the design, but I did draw it. No tracing.

HASTILY MADE SILENT HILL TOURISM VIDEO

At Ohayocon 2011 a group of cosplayers thought up this video and in the course of three to four hours, filmed over an hours worth of footage in about 15 different locations. The footage for this was very hastily made :D

However, it took me a year to get together all the footage. Find a proper program to edit the footage. Put together a song and I added one or two shots that weren’t from the original convention shoot.

All the costumes and props in this video were made by cosplayers. Even the Silent Hill sign. Thank you to everyone who was a part of the video. I hope we can make one like it again soon.

Silent Hill cosplay. Serious business.

I have never heard anything at all about anykind of HD release of SH4. Im going in to do some motion capture for konami this week, a big title they have coming as of yet unannounced. I dont know how long I am working on it but possibly on and off until the summer ! that’s a great stretch of work for me.
Eric Bossick (Voice actor for Henry Townshend in Silent Hill 4)

Yes I do, I am surprised about that, because SH4 was released in 2004, eight years ago. The game market is one where they are constantly putting out new games, so I would expect people would move on to the new game and forget about the old. And the technology changes, people want to see the newest graphics, and something that was a step beyond the last generation. If people return so often to SH4 then it only shows the success of the game, and how much of an impact it had on those people’s lives.
Eric Bossick (Voice actor for Henry Townshend in Silent Hill 4)

Team Silent, was well pretty silent, they generally were quite reserved, perhaps other actors describe that as freedom. I think on SH4 there were a few changes in the staff from who had worked on 1-3, and it was even considered to launch SH4 as a non-Silent Hill title. I had definitely tried my best to understand and move exactly in the manner as the directors had wanted. In general I’m a pretty serious person, but on-set I am even more serious person about work and what we are creating. I know once this is set down how much it can inspire the fans who love it, and how others may go through it piece by piece and dissect it or analyze it. In
our childhood we might have had a book we read, or a movie we saw, and we always remember that and it influences us through the rest of our life. Anything I work on, game, movie, or TV show has the potential to become that, so I take it very serious.
Eric Bossick (Voice actor for Henry Townshend in Silent Hill 4)

Downpour’s soundtrack is being released by Milan Records and will be available in both MP3 download and CD format for $9.99 and $13.55 March 13, 2012.

“The track “Welcome to Devil Pit” is very reminiscent of the tracks heard on Yamaoka’s Silent Hill 4: The Room soundtrack. To me, it brings to mind the opening refrain of Room of Angel or the piece, Resting Comfortably. I hear a single tone in both those pieces that seem to shatter into smaller tones. The fact that this track brings to mind the Silent Hill 4 soundtrack indicates a Silent Hill style sound but as in the previous Downpour tracks, this effect is also reflective of the presumed environment: Devil’s Pit. During the piece, we can hear instruments echo and reverberate much like sounds do off the walls in a cave. Once again we have a familiar Silent Hill sound also echoing the characters physical location.” - SH Historical Society

I think it is hard to evaluate because I am not sure what they are saying. The question you are looking for an answer to is not an easy one. Let’s take the Hospital as an example for a minute. If memory serves, in SH2, the hospital changes at one point as it descends into the otherworld. Common sense tells us that at first the hospital was not filled with blood and horror, but it becomes that way. Are those actual changes that became manifest in the real world or was it another world? Similarly, in SH3, when Vincent says “They looked like monsters to you?” —does this imply that they are actually humans but it was only the mind of Heather that tricked her into seeing them as monsters. Right? Well, these are questions that cannot be answered definitively. Hell, even in our “real” world, we do not see everything as it is because of our limited senses. In any case, as I have said, the SH team stated all the time that there was the real world and the otherworld. So I have to say that, if pushed to it, there is the REAL WORLD and then there is the changed world as it gets infected or influenced by the dark forces. So my answer, if pushed, is that there are 2 worlds in SH2. But as Travis has pointed out, SH4 demonstrates that there seem to be more worlds. Whether or not one wants to “accept” that is a personal issue, like religion.
Jeremy Blaustein (VO/MoCap Director for SH2-SH4)
