A few months ago I found out that an up-and-coming actor named Michel Foucault would be playing a “business man” named Crosby in Silent Hill: Revelation. I recently got in touch with Michel to talk to him about his work in the film:
Silent Haven: How familiar are you with the Silent Hill franchise?
Michel Foucault: I played the video games back in 2001 when I had first moved to Toronto. My brother (who graciously let me crash on his couch) and his roommates had Silent Hill 1 and 2 on Playstation, so that’s what I played when I wasn’t looking for work. I was quite excited to see the movie in 2006, watching it was one of the reasons I became an actor, I so wanted to be on film as I was viewing it that I nearly ruined my film watching experience that day.
Silent Haven: Could You shed some light on who you are playing in the film? I have heard about you playing a Crosby (business man) is this true?
Michel Foucault: Unfortunately I cannot yet speak about who my character is specifically.
Silent Haven: How do you feel about your role in the film?Michel Foucault: I am really happy about my role in the film, I feel that this character adds to the creepiness of the whole scene, he adds a depth to the main characters fear that is quite palpable and can help pull the audience in that much closer, so they have the feeling of being there with Heather and the rest of the group. I also feel he can return in future SH movies regardless of his fate in Silent Hill: Revelation, it would be fun to be a character that seems to show up in every movie in a different form each time.
Silent Haven: Is this a pretty big role for you compared to other productions you have been a part of?
Michel Foucault: It is, I have been part of mid to large size productions (Breakout Kings on A&E) and smaller productions (Independant Films) in the past but this is my first Studio (Hollywood) Feature Film role so it’s very exciting. Working with great actor’s and rising stars is always fun. Feature films tend to be a bit slower to film, they have more time to cover more angles and try different shots, it’s great for pushing boundaries in a scene but it can also lead to very long days. In the end it’s all worth it.
Silent Haven: Can you say how your character compares to that of the game/movie?Michel Foucault: It has been so long since I had played the games that I am unaware if my character appears in the actual video games. (Though I’m sure he does)
Silent Haven: What was the overall experience like working with Michael J Bassett and the other actors?Michel Foucault: Michael was fantastic, I loved his drive on set, the best thing about working with a director who is also the writer is he knows what he wants and he makes sure that that everyone follows suit. Working with the other actors was a great pleasure. Adelaide Clemens was so quiet and shy when I first met her but the lovely person she is shines through very quickly. I was happy to be working with her.
